; on verso; MS inscription; This picture, by Edwin Edwards (1813-1879) (sic), represents High Street, Whitechapel, and was painted about the year 1869. I bought it at the sale of Mrs Edwin Edwards's effects July 1907. Edwin Edwards made a great study of vanishing London; he was mainly an etcher. E.G. Philip has this picture at Castlemead
