Notes:

Native to Australia. This was named by Ventenat. He states that in winter it was kept indoors in an Orangery and produced flowers in summer. The details show: 1, flower from below; 2, same without stamens and with the petals straightened out to show their insertion and their shape; 3, petal from within; 4, same, from without; 5, enlarged ovary, cut crosswise to show three loculaments, two shown empty, the third with several seeds. A print after this drawings was published in Ventenat's 'Jardin de la Malmaison', Paris, An XI [1803], pl. 5.
