Notes:

The son of a furniture manufacturer, Bellangé was a younger contemporary of Charlet in the atelier of Baron Gros at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1835, after a successful showing at the Salon, he left Paris for Rouen, where he spent seventeen years as curator at the Musée des Beaux-Arts. The main part of his lithographic oeuvre was devoted to subjects from Napoleonic legend, but he also executed a number of military fashion plates.
