Another version in graphite and grey-brown wash, signed and numbered 1047 (195 x 275 mm) was sold at Sotheby's, 19 March 1981, lot 97. It is thought to be related to the subject for engraving of c. 1814 in the 'Liber Studiorum' (pub. 1838). A drawing in black and white chalk used in the 'Liber Studiorum', is in the British Museum (1902.5.14.115). A more freely painted version of the subject stylistically similar to this drawing, is also in the British Museum (1902.5.14.29).
