Notes:

The subject is taken from the story in the 'Arabian Nights' of the two sisters who were jealous of their younger sister, Princess Parisade, depicted here carrying the black barrel containing the golden water. In the distance stands the green mountain; behind her is the lilac singing tree with the scarlet talking bird fluttering in the branches heavy with mauve blossom.
