Notes:

A good example of Middleton's very clear precise style. The handling of the foliage in watercolour may be compared with that in 'Trees and Rocks', in the Norwich Castle Museum, repr. in Martin Hardie 'Watercolour Paintings in Britain', II, London, 1967, plate 66. An equally finished view on the Dart was with Mandells Gallery, Norwich, in 1976.
