dark green blown glass body, mounted in silver with applied and engraved ornament, set with malachite panels, semi-precious stones, cloisonné enamels, coral cameos, Roman and Sassanian intaglios, Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins, and on the cover, a Chinese rock crystal Buddhist lion. The cast silver handle is in the form of a lion with an ivory head, and the spout is cast in the form of an antelope's head with a silver stopper attached by a chain

Miniature (painting) / Box

The box was carved from boxwood. The interior was made from the shell of a turtle (known as tortoiseshell) which was carved, heated and pressed. The miniature was painted on card and set under glass with a gilt metal mount.

White earthenware moulded in three parts, with small rough shards of clay added to outline a cloak, and lead glazed. Painted under-glaze in lightly applied cobalt-blue, and with black, brown, orange, dark and light pink, green, red and flesh-pink enamels, and gilt. The underside is concave and glazed. The back is flat and undecorated, except for the head and cloak trim. There is no visible vent hole.

White earthenware moulded in three parts, with small shards of clay added to decorate. Painted with black, brown, green, pink and orange-red enamels, and gilt. The underside is concave and glazed. The back is shaped and part-moulded. There is a 5cm circular opening on top of the tower, forming a vase.
